IPP has contracted with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) to evaluate sexual violence prevention strategies of organizations that received Rape Prevention and Education (RPE) funding.

RPE is focused on the primary prevention of sexual violence. Unlike more traditional methods of addressing sexual violence, primary prevention focuses on understanding the risk and protective factors of individuals and groups within a community, and then seeks to change the attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors of the community to prevent sexual violence before it happens.

There are currently 13 RPE-funded agencies implementing primary prevention programs in Missouri. Through this evaluation, IPP will determine the specific strategies these organizations are using to prevent sexual violence, the target population of the respective programs, the community partnerships that have been established, and the overall capacity of the organizations to achieve the goals of the RPE grant.

IPP contracted with DHSS in 2011 to conduct a similar evaluation of the RPE grant.
